Walmart Marketplace is selective, and most applications fail on small details. Here is exactly how we prepared, submitted and supported this application, step by step, until the seller account was approved.
The client already had a business and selling experience, and wanted to add Walmart as a second sales channel. They knew Walmart’s application is stricter than other marketplaces and did not want to risk a rejection from a small mistake. So instead of applying straight away, we treated the application like a verification check and prepared everything first.
These are Walmart’s published minimum requirements. If any one is missing or does not match, the application can be delayed or rejected.
Government-issued ID of the owner or legal representative.
An EIN for US businesses. A Social Security Number is not accepted.
For example LLC or corporation, matching your registration.
EIN letter, registration documents or similar, all matching exactly.
Selling experience on Amazon, eBay, Shopify, your own site or similar.
Products allowed under Walmart's Prohibited Products Policy, with valid UPC / GTIN codes.
W-9 for US businesses or W-8 for non-US businesses.
We reviewed the client's business entity, Tax ID, business documents, selling history and the products they wanted to sell, and compared everything against Walmart's minimum qualifications before touching the application.
Walmart verifies that details match across documents. We made sure the legal business name and address were identical on the EIN letter, bank account, ID and application, down to spelling and abbreviations. The client's website was already under the LLC name, so we made sure it showed the same business name and contact details too.
Personal ID, EIN verification letter, W-9 tax form and proof of business address were collected, checked and organized. We also gathered the client's marketplace details so their selling history was clear and easy to verify.
We chose categories the client could sell in, checked products against Walmart's Prohibited Products Policy and confirmed valid UPC / GTIN codes.
We completed the application together, field by field, so every answer was accurate and consistent with the documents.
We tracked emails daily during Walmart's review and made sure any request for information was answered quickly and correctly. Walmart approved the account on the first attempt, within a week, and the client received access to Seller Center.
We completed the seller profile, tax information, payment setup, shipping and return settings.
With the account set up, we prepared WFS enrollment and the first products, so the client was ready to start selling.

Walmart Marketplace is selective. You need a registered business with a Business Tax ID or Business License Number, documents that verify your business name and address, a personal ID, a history of marketplace or ecommerce success and a compliant product catalog.
No. Walmart does not accept an SSN in place of a Business Tax ID or Business License Number. You need a business entity with its own Tax ID, such as an EIN.
No. Applying is free and Walmart does not charge setup or monthly fees. You pay a referral fee on each sale, which varies by category.
Walmart lists a history of marketplace or ecommerce success as a requirement, so sellers with existing sales history are in a much stronger position. In your eligibility check we tell you honestly whether you are ready or what to build first.
Walmart’s tax verification uses a W-9 for US businesses and a W-8 for non-US businesses, and the documents required can differ by country. We check your exact situation in the eligibility check before you apply.
The most common reasons are small verification problems: business name or address that does not match across documents, missing or unclear documents, restricted product categories and an incomplete business website.
In our experience it usually takes around 2 weeks, and sometimes longer when Walmart’s team needs extra time for verification. When everything is prepared correctly it can be faster: the client in this case study was approved within a week.
We review the reason, correct the issue and help you resubmit or appeal with accurate, consistent information.
Walmart makes the final decision, so no honest agency can guarantee approval. We guarantee your application is complete, accurate and fully consistent, which is exactly what Walmart checks. We never use false information or borrowed documents.
Your business documents, personal ID, Tax ID details and access to your existing marketplace accounts so we can present your selling history.
We set up Seller Center: seller profile, tax information, payments, shipping and returns. If you want, we then handle WFS enrollment, sourcing, listings and full store management.
